Walking is an exercise movement that is not only good for you physically, but mentally as well. They are great for the mind, body, and soul.

To encourage yourself to walk daily, hopefully you live in a neighborhood that you enjoy the view of and that makes you feel comfortable.

If you feel comfortable finding an area nearby your home, walks should immediately become part of your daily routine. Here’s why.

It’s Good Exercise

Whether you are just starting to exercise or get back into an exercise routine, or maybe you just can’t handle the grunt of a brutal workout anymore, then walking may be your best bet. Walking is still a viable form of exercise.

It’s not that taxing on your body and it’s convenient because all you have to do is walk out of your front door. Taking a walk per day can whip your body back into shape. Adding distance and pace as time goes on will make each walk more challenging and could help you reach your goals faster.

It’s Good to Break Up the Day

Whether you have a desk job or a job where you are on your feet all of the time, a walk in fresh air is still a good idea. Staying in the same place too long can be tiring. You’ll be quick to lose focus and you might not be as productive as you or your employer may hope.

Break up the day with a walk. Utilize some of your lunch time to take a quick ten-minute walk or maybe even an afternoon break. You’ll be sure to come back feeling motivated that you took some time away from where you’ve been the first half of the shift.

It’s a Non-Caffeinated Way to Energize

Similar to the previous point, a walk is a great way to rejuvenate. Sitting in the same place all day, whether it be in an office or your home, can get boring. You’ll be wanting to take a nap at some point throughout the day.

If you start to feel your eyes getting heavy, step outside and breathe in some fresh air on a quick walk. You’ll come back and you won’t know what hit you. You’ll be awake, energized, and ready to go.
