If you have used hookahs, chillums, and pipes previously and are looking for something different, you must experiment with a bong. Unlike other commonly found devices, smoking from bongs is easy on your throat, lungs, and mouth because of its filtration system, which cools and purifies the smoke.

Due to their popularity, you will find several water bongs for sale online from various brands that promise the best quality and experience. Although choosing the right water bong is not so complicated, it would help to know a few things about them.

Which size bongs are the best?

Despite what some bong users might tell you, size has a significant role to play when it comes to enjoying a smoke from a water bong. However, bigger is not always better in this case, for even though you might get a heavier hit from a bong with noticeable dimensions, you must avoid them if you are a beginner. Play it safe and go with smaller water pipes called flavor savers if you are new to smoking. They are highly portable and retain the flavor of the product. Simultaneously, you should choose a joint’s size after giving it some thought. They are usually available between 8 millimeters to 20 millimeters, but it is better to go with a smaller one.

Why is glass primarily used in making bongs?

Glass is widely used for making water bongs, even though it is not the only material. Other materials, including ceramic, acrylic, and silicone, are also used. But glass has unique properties that others do not, making it a preferred choice. For instance, it consistently delivers a clean and smooth hit without altering the flavor of the tobacco even slightly. Unlike other materials, glassblowers can also blow the glass into any shape they want while considering its functionality and aesthetics. Thus, you will find glass water bongs in various designs and shapes. While buying water bongs, it would be a good idea to buy those made from scientific glass, also known as borosilicate glass. Borosilicate glass can withstand high temperatures and is more durable than traditional glass.

What should be the thickness?

Thickness plays a significant role in deciding the durability of the water bong or how long it lasts. If you happen to buy water bongs made from glass, ensure they are thick enough to withstand the high temperatures. As a rough estimate, any bongs with 5 millimeters to 7 millimeters thickness are ideal. Thin glass is brittle and is more likely to break easily, especially if you carry your bong a lot. Even though a bong made from thicker glass will be heavier, it’s a better choice.

What are the different shapes of water bongs?

Shapes are one of the reasons behind the popularity of water bongs since there are so many of them. Here are those you will generally find in online stores.

  • Straight shaped – The most basic ones have a straight tube shape and consist of a neck, cone, downstem, and chamber. It is suitable for beginners and is preferred by many because it’s easy to clean and offers a bigger hit.
  • Beaker bongs – Beaker-shaped bongs look like they belong to a chemistry class, with their heavy bottom and conical flask shape. The broader form provides a lot of stability and produces a significant amount of smoke.
  • Multi-chamber bongs – Multi-chamber bongs are also called recycler bongs because the smoke passes through several chambers before entering your mouth. Because of that, the smoke released from the mouthpiece is thoroughly filtrated, resulting in the smoothest hit.
  • Percolator bongs – When there are two percolators in a water bong, it’s called a percolator bong. The two percolators work in unison to diffuse the smoke as it passes using the slits contained in them.

Conclusion

The next time you find water bongs for sale, go ahead to buy one for yourself. The ultimate objective is to get a memorable smoking experience.
